What we collect

• Account — Email address, username, first name, last name, and optionally a profile photo, bio, and location.
• Content — Food logs, photos, ratings, notes, menu item details, and associated restaurant information.
• Social activity — Who you follow, likes, comments, and saved logs.
• Preferences — Favourite cuisines and dietary restrictions collected during onboarding to personalise your experience.
• Location — Used only if you grant permission — to assist with restaurant search and to surface nearby photos from your library when creating a log. Never tracked in the background.
• Device — Push notification token (when notifications are enabled).

How we use it

We use your data to operate Pepperlog — to display your logs and feed, send notifications you opt into, power restaurant search, and respond to support requests.

We also use aggregate, anonymised data — such as food scores, ratings, and sentiment — for machine learning to understand user trends and improve the app experience. This aggregate data powers a marketing insights toolset for businesses. No personally identifiable information (PII) — including names, locations, or photos — is disclosed from private accounts. All data shared with businesses is presented in aggregate form and cannot be traced back to any individual user.

Third-party services

• Supabase — Authentication and database hosting.
• Google Maps Platform — Restaurant search and location data. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Apple — App Store distribution and push notifications (APNs).

We do not share your personal information with any other third parties in a form that identifies you individually.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, logs, photos, and all associated data. See our Support page for instructions on how to delete your account.

Children

Pepperlog is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, email support@pepperlog.com.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of Pepperlog after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
